What Are Your Priorities In Life?

The other day I was talking with my sister-in-law, and she was telling me how much she enjoys my blog & the work that I am doing. What caught my attention is her saying that she is just barely surviving the day with her kids. Dearest Wadad, you are a wonderful person; do not underestimate yourself! You are a wonderful mother, and frankly most of the time I feel you are a much better mom to your kids than I am to my own! No, I am serious.

I realized that mothers tend to look at other people and feel that they are not accomplishing much. We need to be more confident and satisfied. Believe that you are doing the best that you can, and no one has the right to make you feel any less. You control that feeling. All of this made me think about the effect of social media on our life. You tend to see the “Perfect” moms, the amazing “Entrepreneurs”, etc… Guess what, not everyone has a Perfect life, and not everyone is as happy as they seem in their photos or videos. We are all struggling in this world. And everyone has personal issues and challenges they need to deal with. For some, social media offers the needed attention that makes them feel a bit better. This may also have a negative effect on other individuals who see these feeds and think they cannot be a great as those other “Perfect” Individuals.

In line with this, I do not wish to have my work and writing make others feel like they are not doing much with their lives. On the contrary, I am not better than you. I am a simple individual trying to figure out my life and also trying to survive motherhood 🙂 Others may think I am wasting my time with this blog, especially since I have no intention of monetizing it. I truly want it to be something that sends hope and inspiration to others. Inspiration, creation, and reflection, are things that I hope will offer the readers of this blog joy and happiness.

Lately, I have been unable to write much, since my kids fell ill, and I have been busy potty training my youngest one :s. But I will try my best to keep writing. My priority in life is helping myself and family grow. I also believe it is essential to offer support to my extended family and community; that is what I hope to achieve with this this blog as well.

  1. Oh the joy of motherhood how I missed every moment of it. If I could, I would choose to do it all over again.

But I guess there is time for everything in life. For now, I have to get ready for the life transition of being a nene 🙂

Similarly that’s how I do just like you. Actually writing for me is when I have spare time so I can’t say it’s regular. Because our son is my priority and needs a lot of attention especially when he gets sick. It is a hobby for me so it’s whenever I have free time only. No pressure!

This is so true… I realized that mothers tend to look at other people and feel that they are not accomplishing much.

Social media is making some mums feel like they are useless…but what they don’t see is the struggle those mums, who seem so clued up online, also go through

It really bothers me when stay at home mums underestimate themselves. Maybe it’s because other people make them feel this way but it’s crucial for them to realize that their job is just as significant (if not more) than any 9-5 job out there. Thanks for sharing!

  6. ” We need to be more confident and satisfied. Believe that you are doing the best that you can…” , this is so true. Not everyone has the same goals, mindset or lifestyle so comparing ourselves with what another mother is doing, is not beneficial at all. Do what works for you and your family. Prioritize your happiness.

“Those who believe and do good, they are the best of creatures.” No one and no media can make you feel a certain way without your permission. To be is to do.

    Thank you for sharing :).

This post was so inspiring. I love that you still are motivated despite all tht’s going on in your life. I know what you mean about mom’s judging themselves by saying you are doing so much but I am not even doing any of that. And you know what even with my hands full I am doing the same, CONSTANTLY comparing and judging myself. It’s so important to realize the things we are doing ARE important. And if we are utilizing our time to the best of our ability then we can’t beat ourselves up.
